Meet Fern. A friendly face when you get stuck.

Meet Fern, GrovLink’s built-in AI help assistant for the people managing your app. She’s there for the questions that come up while you’re doing the work: where to add an event, how to find a class registration list, or which part of GrovLink holds the information you need to update.
And yes, she has fern-frond hair, green glasses, and her own little mug. Getting help can have a friendly face.

I’m excited about Fern because learning a new system rarely happens all at once. You learn enough to get started. Then, a week later, you need to do something you haven’t tried before. That’s the moment a little guidance can make a difference.
Ask the question you actually have
Imagine you’re preparing for a volunteer orientation. You’ve added the class, and now you want to see who registered. You remember seeing that somewhere. Was it in the class itself? Under users? Another menu?
You can ask Fern, “Where do I find the people registered for my class?”
Her job is to help you find your way through GrovLink, using the actual page names, tabs, and buttons in its help guide. You can ask in ordinary language, then follow up if the first answer doesn’t get you there.
That matters when you’re still learning what things are called. You may know exactly what you’re trying to accomplish without knowing which menu label to look for.
You shouldn’t have to learn the name of a feature before you can ask for help using it.
Fern lives in the GrovLink admin area, where staff manage the content and services in your app. Look for her portrait in the bottom-left corner. Open Ask Fern and start with what you’re trying to do.
A guide who knows the territory
Fern answers from a maintained GrovLink help guide. It covers everyday work with events, classes, volunteer opportunities, services, impact stories, media, GrovPods, and other parts of the platform.
Her instructions also take your role into account. Someone updating content may have different access from the person managing the whole organization. Directions are more useful when they lead to a screen you can actually open. When something requires an administrator, she’s instructed to explain that.
There are limits, too. Fern can explain how to find information, but she doesn’t look up live records or make changes for you. Ask how to find class registrants, rather than asking her to count today’s registrations. You stay in control of the work and what gets saved.
She’s also instructed to say when her guide doesn’t cover something. AI can get things wrong, and a confident answer isn’t useful if it sends you looking for a button that doesn’t exist.
Sometimes you need a person
Maybe the directions make sense, but something still isn’t working. Or your situation needs more attention than a help conversation can provide.
You can ask Fern to contact support. She’ll ask whether you want to create a ticket. When you confirm, GrovLink sends the conversation along with the request, giving support the context of what you’ve already asked and tried. A reply comes through your GrovLink notifications and email.
That handoff matters. Explaining the same problem again is extra work, especially when you’ve already spent time trying to solve it.
Fern may also offer that next step when you’re stuck. You can accept, or keep working through the question with her.
Start with one thing you’re trying to do
The next time you’re in GrovLink and find yourself thinking, “I know this is in here somewhere,” try asking Fern.
Tell her what you want to accomplish. If the answer doesn’t fit what you see, explain where you got stuck. You don’t need to write a polished prompt or know the right technical terms.
There’s enough to learn while keeping your organization’s information current and your app useful. A friendly guide within reach is one small way GrovLink can help with that work.
Welcome to the Grove, Fern.
